FLOOD RELIEF

Bihar:
An amount of Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust gor Flood Relief and Rehabilitation in Bihar.Relief is being administered in 28 villages in the districts of Muzaffarpur,Madhubani, and Sitamarhi through a network of five NGOs especially selected for the purpose.

The nature of the relief being given is as follows:

	Support to build 1000 houses of bamboo and tin shade
	Organisation of vaccination camps for cattle
	Organising health camps to provide medicine and treatment
	Provision of blankets to 1250 families
	Provision of fodder seeds in five panchayats
	Cleaning of drinking water sources and repair of hand pumps in the five districts

Local experts are being consulted with regard to the design of the house and other necessary relief.To facilitate proper relief in all chosen areas,purchasing committees have been formed consisting of NGO members,RGVN executives and other credible persons from the areas .

Assam
An amount of Rs 30 thousand was sanctioned for the Flood Relief under NER I.

Two Ngos,namely North East Region Human Resource Development Society and Ashadeep in Kamrup district of Assam received support for distributionof relief materials to the flood effected .Relief material was also supplied to the relief camp comprising women and children in Jagiroad College in the Morigaon district of Assam.
