Gender
Budget Analysis Centre
RGVN inaugurated its Gender Budget
and Analysis Centre (GBAC) in January 2007.GBAC
analyses budgets of different developmental programmes
of the government to see how the welfare of the weaker
section, especially women, is targeted and how much
finance has been allotted to the different sectors of
the economy, with a view to constructively examining
programmes, make suggestions, information garnering
and dissemination. However, the overall idea of GBAC
is to go beyond analysing budgets, and works towards
the overall empowerment of women and gender issues.

Gender Issues |
The long term aim is thus to close
gaps and improve links between policy pronouncements,
resource allocation and outcomes, resulting in effective
effective policy implementation. For NGOs/CSOs it is
especially important, as it can function as a tool for
assertion of rights, through a participatory process
of reshaping budgets. The Centre has been financed for
a period of one year by North East Network.
